Relationship: Why God cannot intervene

According to dictionary.com a relationship is “a connection, association or  involvement”. It means that two or more entities or objects are collaborating for a purpose.

The God of the Bible does not want traditions, sacrifices, or anything from you except a relationship. God is not going to impose Himself on you but rather invite you into collaborating with Him.

God cannot make you love Him just because He is God. Rather, He provided free will. Love cannot exist without free will. The minute free will disappears, love ceases to exist and becomes control. God cannot make us love Him because that would make us machines.

Think of it like this. Say that my wife loves me because of her free will. That is called freedom. But what if I was to place a microchip in her brain and program her to love me, that is called control or slavery. Which is true love? Of course, it would be free will. That is why we know God is love. He gives moral agents the free will to choose. Therefore, God wants a relationship with each moral agent out of free will.

Relationships require free will moral agents to agree and collaborate in order to be a relationship. God wants that relationship with each of us. We collaborate when we are in agreement. But if we do not agree, the relationship does not exist. Only when we surrender to God and agree with Him, the relationship can move forward. Until then, relationship is null and life become self centered and a big void.

Revelations 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
